What are the dangers of running without a silencer? I popped a wheelie today and brought it too far back, the stock grab bar went and the silencer hit the ground, ripping the hose connecting the header to the silencer. Is it bad to ride this way?

are your talkin 'bout the rubber connecting hose between the pipe and silencer, just pull it apart and use a little high temp silicon to seal it till you get a new one, most guys take the silencer to the local auto parts store and find some radiator/heater core hose and 2 clamps
thats what iv done.. normally gotta stretch it up a bit to make it work but it will work.. my first blaster i uaed a piece of 24g sheet metal, copper high temp rtv, and 2 hose clamps
yep same here on my shee right now an like aric said wont hurt notin just loss back pressure causeing to loss a lil power
On an in frame pipe all the silencer does is act like an extension of the stinger, thats why on an oof or street bike that don't run a silencer the stringer section is built in as part of the pipe. Thats just in a nut shell...there's a bit more to it.

i recently had the same thing happen to me with loosing the silencer. It doesn't do any damage, like everyone else said u will loose a little bit of power with it off. Hose clamps work well and are pretty tough. On Ebay they sell colored exhaust colars that work quite well, my freind has a 250ex with the hose colar and it does an awesome job. It has always been radiator hose on mine. i just didnt have any extra. thanks, i didnt think itd hurt anything, but i just wanted to make sure
