cylinder ports cracked?

crank was in there already, no spacer plate, nothing hitting, didnt look asa if the cases were altered, so i assume it is standard hotrods crank. after getting it all back together and doing leakdown, did compression test and it seems weak, takes like 7 or so kicks to build up to 120psi. also have no spark now, had it before tear down so going to check wiring to make sure i didnt knock anything loose.

Are you doing the compression test with the throttle held wide open?

7 kicks doesn't sound abnormal for peak pressure but 120 psi for a fresh rebuild does sound a little low. They do come up a bit once the rings are broke in (sometimes as much as 10 psi) and that would put you right in the range for a fresh engine.

Figure out your ignition trouble and then do your heat cycles and retest compression.

Update please, did you use the old jug, get another one, or a resleeve.

I may have missed something in previous posts, but is the jug within specs and was it honed.

120 does seem a little low, but it should come up when the rings bite into the crosshatching.

Had jug resleeved and got new piston, rings etc. Will check over wires and repost.
It was supposedly running before I got it, just got impounded, I'd say due to frying the piston. It seems well taken care of otherwise with some $ spent on Toomey kit, hotrod crank and rod, frame painted nice black, plastics all good, holeshots on rear etc.
