sent my jug out for honing and top end kit, got a call that jug is no good- ports are cracked, but it can be sleeved.
anyone have any thoughts or good jugs
thanks

Got any pics? Ya have a few choices here. Get a used set-up, get a new stock sleeve or go with a BB set-up LA sleeve!

sleeve it, you'll know what you have, a brand new stock bore cylinder with tons of life left

buy someone elses cylinder.......... with 1/2 life left, and possibly similar problems

so while getting ready to put all back together i notice that there is no plugged line coming out of the carb for the oil intake. i will guess this was the major cause of it but leakdown test to come asap.

leakdown test done- went from 6 to 4.5 over 12 minutes, but found slight leak at the reed cage and intake boot, resealed will test again tonight. it is stock mikuni with the ugly stuff on top, nipple looks unplugged

I have the similar problem im still going to run it. But my (crack's) are very small. They cracked because they were ported to widly. The porter took too much meat out. but i took it to a local shop and told me ill be just fine. But i suggest you re-sleeve it, im not due to money issues ill have to cut grass for months.!! lol

Use something to plug the oil nipple permanently then. Check that there is a rubber gasket between carb and cap. Reason I say to plug it is I used a Vito's kit and wasn't satisfied with the cap that came in the kit.

thanks larry, will do
also pulled main jet to check size and it is the 310 that comes with the toomey kit
some quick background on this blasty, got it at impound auction for a decent price if it was running, got it home and no compression, took off jug to find hole in piton which i learned is due to lean condition, sent out jug got resleeved etc. while i had apart found hotrods crank and connecting rod, but not sure if it is a stroker or not didnt know what to look for at the time. has toomey chrome exhaut setupbut wasnt sure if jet was changed due to the lean condition it had. this board has been a great help in my getting this blasty up again. plan on the break in this weekend and pics will be coming

I have a cylinder that is on 66.50mm bore completely stock porting and both of the transfer bridges are cracked, one to the point of it falling out. It's not always the wildly ported ones that are cracked but I don't know the reasoning behind some cracked and some not...

WHAAAAAT ???? you installed a crank of unknown stroke ????
that must be known,

if it's a + 3 or 4 crank, you'll need a corresponding spacer plate between the base and cylinder, or head machined, and ultimately the ports matched

To me it reads that he found that it was fitted with a Hot Rods crank, not that he was going to fit one!

well thats better than what i assumed, whew !!!!
after re-reading with your guidence it does look that way
