great forum guys. first post. anyway, have a 98 blaster w/bbk (vito 240 old style) pulled the head and i can barely see the rings past the piston. too much slop. piston looks new and is standard bore. could cyl. be overbored? the play just seems excessive

measure the diameter of the cylinder wall and the diameter of the piston, could have been a bad hone job.

old style vito=single exhaust port as opposed to the triple on newer style. i think the piston installed is too small. i believe it may have been overbored. guess ill have to measure

Definitely measure, but I agree, if you can see the rings it sounds sloppy. Cyl to piston clearance should only be about .002" If yours is really that bad then go with the next size up piston and get it bored. That kind of piston slap will grenade the motor.
