Well, I was really suprised at the look of my piston and cylinder. Good thing I got some advice to go ahead and get it bored to the next size and new piston. I took the cylinder off today, and heres the carnage:

Already talked to Ken, sending the cylinder out sometime this week

Well, before I joined this site, I was told my a local Suzuki dealer that sells YFZ/Raptor and TTR parts that I could take the air box lid off for more power. I was never told to rejet the carb. AND on top of that my brother was cleaning my blaster a few years back and shot water straight down the exhaust which it then got in the cylinder. So I'm guessing the heat marks are from the no airbox lid, and the grooves are from the water.

PS. Yes, I immediately changed out the gear oil in the cases after finding out about this, so the engine didnt run with water in the cases

water down the pipe does not enter the gearbox, and prolly didnt cause the piston carnage either

u can reuse that piston!!! those scratches will buff out! lol j/k bro

trust me there has been worse, at least the piston didnt grenade and then u would have had to split the cases to clean it out. when something bad happens, dont get mad, just remember it could always be worse.... water down the exhaust wouldnt cause it either, it wouldnt have reached the jug, unless he put it up to the silencer end and pulled it full blast and even then it would be doubtful it would reach.
