And last question , The paint on the head and cylinder is recked and dirty stains soaked in.
Would it be ok to have it Vapour blasted?

Can't really see what your bore looks like but if there's and scratches that you can feel by running your fingernail over, get it bored. It's ok to sandblast it if it done rite.

Get a pic of the bore from one end with light shining threw the other end. That should make a good pic for us to see the condition of the bore.

Yes the vapour blast will be done by a company.

And i havent got any sockets to take the head off the cylinder now as i brought my cylinder home.

If the piston skirt has snapped inside it would need a new bore wouldnt it?

Possibly new bore, if it messed up the cylinder walls. But if the walls are not damaged you may get away with a light hone and new piston/rings.

dakotademon7: I will have to try get a socket tomorrow and try get a picture of the bore.

Slicker: Ill just buy new piston as the 1 that was in there was cheapy.

I dont think i had 2 hours of riding out of that engine before it blew a hole in casing.

My feelings are to go with a new piston and a rebore, if you want to use that top end.

With that skirt going through the cases, I would recommend you replace them.

Looking at the state of that piston, there may also be damage to the crank/rod and bearings as there was a lot of metal pelting around for awhile.

I don't want to seem like a defeatist, but if it were me. I would be looking at a used bottom end and then rebuilding from there.

Thats what i was thinking new bottom end , Piston and bore.

And i think there is still alot of the piston insde the case.
What parts could i salvage off the bottom end to keep?
