i have to replace my cylinder gasket, i was wonderin if anybody knew the torque specs on the bolts i gotta take off?

you really cant get a torqe wrench in there so i just made them pretty snug if your talking about the head about 25-28lbsI:I

ok, so im changin the cylinder gasket, the lower one right, can i do that with out takin the head off the cylinder?

theres a special tool you can use with a normal tourque wrench, not sure what its called but its 18ft lbs for the base nuts.

jlg the head bolts are 20ft lbs. do not go over that or you can strip out the studs. and try to make sure your giving correct info to people instead of wrong info so they break something.

yes you can take the cylinder and head of in one piece its really easy just be gentle when you put the cylinder back over the piston, squeez the rings tight and put it on straight you dont want the piston getting crooked and binding thus scratching the cylinder, it happened to me a long time ago

well sorry but my cd repair manual says 25lbs and depending on what kind of quality torqe wrench you have it may not be accurate and a little extra not going to snap the boltsI:I

well id get a new manual if its telling you that. i didnt say snap the bolts i said strip out the head stud. thats not very hard to do, its just case aluminum with some steel studs into it. not the end of the world if you strip out the stud, just helicoil it but still id feel so bad if someone broke something from what i said, and others wouldnt give a sh*t.

alright thanx for all the input guys, we got it all replaced so now all we gotta do is take it for a little test run tomorrow and see how we did

i got it guys i was just trying to help i ordered my manuel off of ebay matbe i should get a new one because it says 20bls for the lower and 25 for the upper

Also, if using an extension, you need to set your torque wrench to less than the recommend values. Since torque=ForcexDistance, if you increase the distance you must decrease the force.
