custom nerf bars

i havent done it but ive heard of people who have done. all you would have to do is buy the pipe and the netting. then get a pattern of the nerf bars you like, then just bend you pipe to match then weld or bolt (which ever your prefer) it on to the frame. so i guess you could say its a DIY.

I don't think it would be worth it unless you have a lot of spare moola laying around. You can always pick some up real cheap and they are built by people who know what they are doing. lol

I would just buy a set if i was you, unless you have a welder setup for aluminum (or steel if you want to go that way) and a tube bender they wont turn out worth a damn (i think freek cut the tubing and welded it together tho at angles instead of bending it, but his way still required a welder)

if you were tempted to try it ide get a good diameter pipe and take it to a place that bends pipes for motorcycle exhausts. they could make it whatever shape you want and i cant see it costing too much

im not gonna sell them. and its probly cheaper for you anyway to cut your own peices which is easy and get them welded at a shop if you cant youself. cuz shipping anything to or from canada is a biotch.

on an un-related note, what do u use to sharpen foot peg teeth? i was gonna do it the other day with my grinder.

I use a Dremel tool till I get a good gap, the I go over the gaps with a large toothed file followed by a fine, square file. Then I lighten the footpegs. I'd do it for cheap but you'd have to do shipping.

I made a set from 3/4" steel pipe , heated and bent it , I never installed the nets because I scored a nice set of nerfs from a forum member . The ones I made went in the steel recycle dumpster at work , just lost interest , plus they were on the heavy side , my current ones weigh half of what the ones I made did . and they weren't finished yet . if you got the aluminum and had it bent , or bent it yourself , the frame mounts would be easy to do . Just gotta be motivated . I actually started making a set when I got ripped on ebay for a set I won for 35 bucks plus 15.00 shipping , I had fun calling him at 3 am his time calling him all kinds of sh*t until I got a new phone and lost the number . I still have his address though , one day I'll pay his ass a visit .

Yep I just use a Dremel with a carbide disk. Takes longer to do, but I can make them as sharp as I want. I only sharpened them once as they were too sharp and hurting my feet. :D

i used a bench grinder on mine. it worked out great.

I Made a set of peg extensions/wideners for my banshee and I incorporated a removeable plate that can be unbolted and sharpened then bolted back in easy . Maybe I'll toss up some pics when I get a chance .

Making your own nerf bars or anythng else on a ride is worth doing if you have the knowledge and resources. true customizing is not buying everything some one else made and bolting it on, its building the stuff yourself.

nothing wrong with buying premade upgrades, those that do it have some really really sweet rides, but I think being able to tell people you made the upgrade completly, that shows true character!

I build almost every project from ground up, except for parts a dummy like me cant build like magnetos! LOL.

nerf bar are a good item to build yourself they are challenging yet pretty forgiving.

i dont need a set just thinking if i would make 1 for 1 of the bikes i'm selling or just to see some really cool
