yea i know this is the third time ive posted in the full rebuilds section. but i have made my mind up and im goin to go with a gloss black frame a arms and swingarm. one because my cuzin dont have time to profecionaly paint my frame and stuff soo ill just do it my self. and ive got the black paint for free soo yea. ut ill ahve pics up when i get it pirmered and painted. also about how many coats of primer will i need if my whole frame is at bare metal. and how many coats of paint. and also just let me know if you like what ive got planned here. and how many bolts is there to get the swingarm by itself how many bots are holding the carrier and alel to the swingarm. thanks and pic will be up soon when i get some money for some pirmer.

yea thats what i was kinda thinkin about two or 3 cans of primer and 4 or 5 cans of paint to be sure there is enough to cover it good.

im not sure how you guys are using 4 or 5 cans of paint on a frame. i used 2 and the one still has some left.
Also i only did 2 coats of primer. Used 1 can

It really depends on the color....this took me over six cans

YUPP. and the more the better cuz its thicker. but idk ill just buy 2 can of primer and 3 cans of black and hope it works.

okk well i talked to my cuzin and he said since i took my frame to bare metal that i would take 2-3 coats of primer and 3-4 coats of black to make it look good and tough. and i will be in a super warm garage with an elictric heater and a propain heater so temp will for sure be right. at least 75 degrees. but ima go buy me some paint from walmat this afternoon. and soon to be painting it.

Actually you are wrong ....if the paint is applied correctly "the right tempature, base prep" and allowed to hardend 3 coats are way more pliable and will take more abuse without just flaking off

This man is talking about using 5 cans of paint on his frame....

you dont want the paint to be more than 5mils thick, anything more than 3 or so coats is going to start to be very susceptable to chipping. "the more the better" does not apply with paint.

all you need is to sand it WELL, put on one good coat of primer, sand that thoroughly, then put on 2-3 color coats. after that point you are not helping it, you are hurting it

oo i was and ivve got the primer coat done and the first coat of black. but no camra to take pics. but hopefully ill find a cam so i ca take pics of the final product.

You got it twisted. The more you use the weaker the paint becomes.

thats exactly what my ppg paint supplier told me this past rebuild,
2 coats of primer to fill in imperfections, only 1 coat of paint, and 1 coat of clear
the thicker it is, the easier it chips
