crappy shift shaft design

this baffles me. so if u want to remove your shift shaft you pop off the pedal take off your clutch basket and pull it out, right? thats funny cause when your clutch basket is installed. all u have to do it press the shift shaft in and u can grind your fork against the back of the clutch. y is there nothing to stop it from being pushed in. and if your really cool like me, you can grind off enough to make the shift fork miss the star and not be able to shift. im putting a washer right where it comes out. it will be wide enough to rest on the aluminum and not the seal, then machining a grove right after washer, and installing a snap ring or e clip there. that will keep it from pushing in.
 
theres a bump that comes out from the clutch side cover engine case the presses against the shaft to keep it in place. check to see if thats worn out?
