Im trying to get my crank out to be rebuilt but i dont have the special tool... i know its not safe to do it without the proper tool but im only doing it once (hopefully) and i dont have money to buy the puller... can anybody tell me how they get theirs out?

On my opinion pulling the crank is the most crucial part. Ive heard of peoples splittin their cases without the tool, but I pulling your crank is definately not an area you want to be cheap on or risk. I got my case splitter and crank puller for $60 a piece. When your already spendin the $ to replace your bottom end, $60 more ain't sh*t especially when that $60 will guarantee you won't ruin your crank and and bring you back to square one ( minus the money you'll be out )

even if you get the crank... you still have to instal it. so you would still be stuck. please dont' even think of beating the crank out and in with ANYTHING

We know how much it sucks man, let alone the extra time its gonna take gettin/ waiting for the tool but we really are just tryin to help you out. If there was a good way with even 75% success rate to do it without the tool it would be on the forum somewhere but the reality of it is more times then not people just end up ruining somethin tryin to pull and or install their crank. Check out rockymountainatvmc.com,that's where I got mine. It's the cheapest one I could find anywhere ( they were $120 everywhere else ), its made by Tusk and its a nice well made tool!

for a splitter, you can use a harmonic balancer puller from an auto parts store. they're about 20 bucks to buy, or you can rent it for a deposit of a similar amount, that you get back if you bring it back in one piece lol.

as far as installing the crank....I wouldn't do it any other way but a crank installer tool. I've seen it done with a rubber mallet but i definitely don't advise it.
