Just bought a 2000 Blaster from a second owner and I don't believe the kid did any maintenance during ownership. I have a leaky crank case (oil on the front) and what looks like oil leaking out from a crack in my pipe right at the engine. I have a new crank gasket but should I be replacing all the seals in the case?

u should be fine with just replacing the crank seal .. but if u have the whole seal kit u mite as well just throw it in ya kno ..

I have a crank seal leaking on my fly wheel side and from what I've seen on the vid below it looks like you have to break the case apart to replace it. Is this true? Do I need to actually crack the cases to replace these seals?

Thanks Kennedy!! I thought that's what I was seeing in the vid. That was my ?, replace bearings or not? Decisions decisions?

NO you dont have to split the cases to replace the "crank seals'. you have to take the stator cover off, and the flywheel after followed by the stator. and on the other side take the Clutch cover off, the main crank drive gear (maybe ohter gears also). But you dont have to split the cases.

That video refers to splitting the cases to replace the crank BEARINGS not the seals. They include the seals in the instructional b/c its a step in the process before taking out the bearings.

But you dont have to if you only need to replace the seals. Which sounds like the case here.

Also the leak from you head pipe is so common on these blasters and its an easy cheap fix.

Are you sure your crank case is leaking? The oil coming out of your pipe connection may make it appear that your crank case is leaking.

The head pipe comment was from a different member. I took my flywheel cover off and there was oil coming out of it. There's not much, but enough to be concerned. Thanks for the info. So I don't have to pull apart the cases for the seals only?
