hey guys, the day i go back to skool after christmas break im bringing my quads with me. but before that i need to know a couple things

1.) what is the standard bore size for a blaster, and warrior? i need to get rings.

2.) im guessing the blaster, and warrior come stock with a wiseco piston. am i correct?

3.) do you guys have any suggestions on paint for frames?

4.) what would cause a blaster to generate no spark when you use the kick start, but start right up when you pull it with a truck?

thanks guys in advance

If you are just re-ringing you will need to buy them from a dealer or oem, they are not wiesco stock. Paint is up to you are you gunna rattle or spray? As for the spark issue it sounds like you don't have a spark issue you have a compression issue on the blasty. The reason it will start when you tow it is that you are spinning the engine faster than when you kick it.

1.66mm for a blaster not sure for a warrior
2.no they do not come stock with wiseco
3.good prep work and a good paint like krylon or rustoleum
4.well it could be ur coil or cdi or even possibly ur stator

66mm is correct. It should be a stock yamaha piston and 98% sure it is a cast piston not forged. Recently my blaster blew up, after pulling motor down a peice of the piston underneath had broken off and fell into the crankcase. Watch what you buy on e-bay. Make sure you get piston, rings, wristpin, bearing, cir-clips and gasket set. Some come with intake and exhaust too. I just ordered a kit, bought Weisco piston and bearing from rockymountain and gasket set from Vitos. I had bonus cash from rockymountain. Not sure on electrical but if stator or coil gone it won't run at all I beleive.

If you are not planning on putting a new piston in you will need to buy oem yamaha rings. You can not put any ring on any piston, thickness and cut are not the same from brand to brand. What was your compression?

havent done a compression test since i dont have a tester. the reason why the motor is coming apart is it needs gaskets but i figured i should do rings while im at it

no we checkked for spark, it has no spark when you kick it we did a compression test, the compression is fine

Well did you check compression or not. If the engine starts up and runs fine when you pull it then your ignition parts are all good. There is no magic to kick starts they just turn the engine over. Also do yourself a favor and buy oem rings from a dealer and not Ebay. The money saved isn't worth the possible headache. Besides the dealer will at least have a customer service dept. you can talk to for such questions.

oops sorry i didnt mention its 2 different blasters. 1 runs needs gaskets, the other starts only by pulling it. my dad did the compression test on the one that doesnt start but i dont have the tool, he does

So again what is the compression of the one that does not start with the kick?{ask your dad if you don't kno} There is no difference between the kick and pulling it other than when you pull it, you are spinnig the engine faster.. Has nothing to do with the electrical.

my dad isnt here but all i know is we tested it for spark a million times, it has no spark when you kick it. therefor it doesnt start. but if you pull it with a truck it starts. ik the compression was within spec
