Well I went out to a local track today, Amherst Meadowlarks in Amherst, Oh, to do some practicing before there first race and I'm pretty sure my clutch went out. I put in some good laps and all of the sudden I heard a sort of grinding noise and immediately shut it down. Nursed it back to the pits and tried to diagnose the problem. With the engine off and rear wheels in the air when the wheels are turned I can hear something bouncing around in the bottom end. The bike still starts and the noise is present until the clutch lever is pulled in and then the noise stops. I just had the top end rebuilt by a local shop but the bike wouldn't start if something was seriously wrong with that, which leads me to think it's also something to do with the clutch. If this is the actual problem tomorrow when I get to look at it, any suggestions on a new basket as well as a whole new clutch kit? I race motocross and would like to only do this repair once so thanks for any input and sorry for the drug out story.

Before you do anything, do a leak down test and compression test. If those are fine then pull the clutch cover and see what's going on in there!

well that just sucks zak, look inside the clutch and stator covers first, before diving in deeper, and let us know what ya find
