Getting ready to put everything back after replacing my crank seals. I am doing inspections now per the manual and i noticed i have some play between the clutch basket and the big drive gear on the back of it. its only a couple mm at best but in the manula it says if there is any free play that it should be replaced. has anyone delt with this? does it really need to be replaced? and if so what kind of replacement would you recomend over a stock clutch basket?

i'm not familiar with clutch play, but i'd inspect the clutch basket for wear??? and then decide on a used stock basket from here or ebay for cheap, or a new stock or billet basket, depends on how much $$$ ya wanna spend, i wouldnt think ya need billet unless your motor is heavily modded

ok well the big drive gear on the back of the clutch and the clutch basket is what i am talking about. and if i twist those two parts in opposite directions there is maybe 1-2 mm of movment. in my manual it said if there is circumferential free place that i should replace it. it never seemed to opperate poorly when i was running the quad. i just wondered if anyone one knew if it should be replace if there was that small amont of play between these two parts

there are rubber bushings in there to cushion the drive line, I'd bet everyone has some play there. I justed checked mine and it has some free play but does not have a metal to metal positive stop so I'm reusing mine an will keep an eye on it as well as an ear>

most other baskets I have dealth with have radial springs that cush the driveline and can't be squished with hand pressure.
