Im having a crazy time getting my blaster to start.... Got it as a project bike rebuilt engine (had a new piston rings and rebore) the problem is im getting a spark from the plug randomly.... some one has hacked the cdi box and wiried in a silver looking one in its place... (never seen it running)

How can a check the box is working? various components one by one? colour codes?

or should a get original cdi and put one back on?? At what cost? (THIS IS A MAJOR FACTOR)

is there a after market replacement... or will any bike cdi work?

As the engine needs new clutch rear brake and few other bits so dont want to get them untill the engine rums but in getting confused with the lack of running...

Thanks

If the cdi that you have is metal, then you were fooled. All the cdi that I have seen are plastic for a blaster.

What exactly Do you mean your getting a spark from the plug randomly..Like sometimes you get spark other times you dont?

souns like a bad ground or broken woodruf key on flywheel. ya cdi is plastic. should have white/red, orange, black,black/red, and one other color comiing out of it. the 12v regulator is metal with a blue wire coming out. maybe u have them confused?

Blaster Biotch Sounds right..Possiably Bad ground from that "Metal" cdi box..Wtf?..are you sure someone didnt possiably make a Case for it and put it around it?they are only plastic.Cant you ask the person you got it from whats up with it?

The whole loom from the engine case (magneto side) has had a snip resolderd to a new conector and connects to the matal (cdi box) ill try and get some pics up....

Got the random spark as i checked it with a plug test and lights interminantly on each kick... ill check my earths...

Got the whole blaster as a none runner project for £100 spent £200 on reboar piston and rings oils bolts etc.. (not much of a cheap project now! i havent even seen it run and needs new carb ,clutch, brake lower arms ):(

Will any cdi work? any pics of the standard one?
