It will test the engine and crankshaft seals, but not the carb boot as the reeds will be in the way.

It Is best to pressurise from the inlet.
 
1. I seriously doubt that your air compressor can accurately regulate down to 6 PSI.
2. I doubt that your Harbor Freight leakdown tester has a schrader valve in it.
3. Are you planning to just let the compressor gleefully blow air into the motor as fast as it is leaking out? If so, how are you going to know if you have a leak? Your leakdown tester certainly isn't going to tell you.
4. Although I haven't tried the mentioned scenario, I seriously doubt that the reeds seal air tight at the low velocity of air flow that is going into a motor during a leakdown test. In other words, I don't see pressurizing through the spark plug hole as being a problem, if done correctly. However, that's not how it's normally done.

my compressor will regulate very low but I never thought about the Schrader vavle. I thought the leakdown tester would hold the pressure without the compressor on. I guess I need to make a leak down tester and do it the right way. Thanks guys.
 
If I loosen the bolts around the case, can it be separated enough to push a little rtv gasket maker in it? I don't want to pull it apart to and have to buy seals unless it don't pass the leak test. You guys on this forum have helped a lot. I never even knew you had to leak test as I have always worked on 4 strokes. I am thankful for you guys, now I know to do it so I don't run lean and waste all my money.
 
I am not going to say that you should try to pry the cases open and squirt some type of sealant in there, but if you do it should be a bonding agent.

I you do choose to do it I will deny everything you say if you mention my name!:)

lol, thanks blaster. that's funny. Yeah I just don't want to rub it on the bottom to stop the leak. If I could just get it a tiny bit apart I could push a little in with my finger. The leak is very small. I wouldn't squirt a bunch in there to get inside the case. Just push a little in then torque it back down.
 
The problem that I see with the exercise is that if the cases come apart, all of the bonding of the case will be destroyed and will have to be re bonded, it is not really a job that I would care to tackle.
