I know we all like to help each other out here. But when a person goes and spend a grip of cash on a new motor build that is other than stock, it is always best to use what ever the builder recommends.
It may not always be the best, but since their standing behind the build, trust their recommendations.
Im sure you could take two of Ken's identical motors with same pipes and two different carbs and get two totally different curves on the dyno. Not every time is the "standard" setup always going to be the best, but if the builder is confident in his setups, stay with what they say to use.
Some years ago I (we, since there were a dozen or so us there drinking at the time) did a pipe and carb test on the dyno. It was an all weekend affair.
We first used as our base the setup the customer had brought it to me with. We fine tuned on the carb and re-packed the silencer, then started in on oils and ratios. Once we had a baseline of the best, we started in changing things.
Amazed at how some pipes would put up bigger numbers, but smaller bands (peaky) and others that turned on at near idle, yet wouldnt rev to near 1500 to rev limit.
Unless you willing to spend thousands of dollars and have a host of trial parts to compare, use a proven package.
