Can the Blaster motor.....

to hang with the big dogs it's more than motor. you need the best suspension you can get, not the most expensive, but decent stuff DIALED IN. the blaster has a short wheelbase, it will out turn the bigger bikes, with an aftermarket pipe, and alum rims it is SIGNIFICANTLY lighter than the other bikes, with a decent motor you have a power to weight advantage. you dont want a max hp motor, you want a motor with a broad powercurve, not a top end monster. you can do it..you shopuld have seen the look on Dean Sundahl's and doug Roll's faces when they realized that for almost 12 hours of a high speed 24 hour race they were getting smoked by a blaster...with a mildly ported stock 200cc cylinder...thats priceless

Wow this thread has really blown up. I'll address this one for sure, you seem to have experience beating people with Blasters. Yeah the chassis was my first priority for sure. I already procured SMS +5 +1 A Arms, a SMS, +3 Swinger, SMS +1 steering stem, and Elka shocks designed for this setup, and setup for a rider that weighs within 5lbs of me and ran nationals with this setup. So it should be a pretty dialed setup to start with, I'll just have to dial it in more for my liking. It will get me 12" of wheel travel F+R which should be perfect for MX racing. I have also gusseted the chassis relentlessly, and dropped it off the the powdercoater yesterday. I also modified the pegs, by moving them down and back 1.5" to get more cockpit room. I also shaved all the mounts for useless crap like oil injection, lighting and heel guards. It should be about as good as it gets without doing major frame modifications.

It's good to know this quad should turn better than the big boys. I'll have to learn to exploit that advantage. I was never awesome in the turns on my R, so I will have to get used to the Blaster, and learn it's limits. I picked up the parts to repair my engine. The clutch basket lost it's ears, and the kick starter had a spring break. I picked up a Wesico basket, and the spring comes in Wednesday. I am going to pick up a Dyno Port pipe to replace my FMF. My friend Shawn has a LA Sleeve 240 cylinder sitting at the shop. I am thinking of picking it up, and having him port it, or someone else. IDK. I know he doesn't have much experience with the LA Sleeve setup, might have someone more familiar with that setup port it. He does primarily OEM Blaster jugs. Then I'll have to pick up a big carb, and build my top secret Airbox I designed. Whenever the crank needs replaced, then if I think it is still needed I'll +3 it or +4 the crank. Does that sound like a good plan of attack guys? Then if this isn't enough, or is unreliable, then I'll figure something else out.

a 250r airbox fits with slight modifications. 12" in the rear??

Actually the 12" in the rear I guess I assumed. He did tell me the front would be 12" the rear I assumed would be a match. I am probably wrong though. It is a custom race Elka designed for the SMS swinger though. I know the 250R airbox can fit. I am doing something a little more custom, and something I've never seen on quads yet. I am gonna keep it under wraps though, until I get it done. I can't work on it, until I get my frame back.
