Bought this engine on ebay with no compression. havent really took apart this engine. so it could be just a blown piston. But i want to know if a namura pistons are any good in performance wise. if not ill just get a wiseco piston. but im on a dudget build only 13 still going to school, selling candy!!!!

Everyone on here is gonna tell you to buy a Wiseco because its forged & it wont grenade like a cast piston will. Namura is a cast piston, I just put one in my rebuild because there are people that have had good luck with them & there are others that say they are junk so i guess Im trying my luck. A cast piston will blow apart into tiny pieces lodging between the crank & the engine case locking it up plus ruining crank bearings as well...a forged piston will/can crack & or seize in the cylinder but wont explode into tiny pieces so its your call but i hope i helped a little on the subject!

thanks man i guess ill go with a wiseco piston, also i bought a fmf fatty pipe not with the silencer for 30 bucks, im wondering if i take out the baffle of a stock silencer, and connect it with the fmf pipe will it be any good?

the stock silencer is packing, not baffled, and taking that away you would loose back pressure which is essential for any sort of power. just hook it to the stock silencer for now, there will still be more power, not as much as the fmf stinger, but leave the stocker alone if you want more power

Your wrong on this one as I have recently found out. They shatter also and are a bit stronger than the cast- they also can take out the case halves like mine did, the skirt blew apart fell down into the bottom end as it always will and the crank punched it through the bottom and the tranny side before it got locked up.

This was due to me not having it jetted correctly for the first 4 months or so and also no properly breaking in. Ya I could kick myself after all the money i spent, but lesson well learned! And Ken gets another motor Job to do!!I:I

As far as piston choice, I think is all how hard you ride and how well you take care of youir stuff. Some may be better than others but if ya don't ride too hard and only a few times a month a chaeper one will probably do. If ya like to beat the sh*t out of you and it when you ride every other day ya probably should spend the extra.

That sucks man! Ive been pretty easy on my Namura I just put in 3 days ago but im afraid my jetting has been wrong while trying to break it in...the electrode is tan but the insulator is like a real dark tan almost gray looking so i dont know but i sure hope i dont have the same problems down the road that you had!
