Broken piston

What is the best thing to do if i just took my head off and found out that the piston is cracked and peaces of it are everywhere? Do i need to get a new crank or just new piston. If so would it be better to just go with a big bore kit?

I would tear it down before you go buying new parts, see if the rod and bearings on your crank are still good, also look and see if there is scaring on the cylinder,

Agreed but I would split the casings and clean it out really good and make sure you get all the little metal pieces out of the bottom end... Trust me I had a motor that I put a new top end on and didnt clean the bottom end out and ended up buying a new crank and piston and everything... Do it right the first time and then you wont have any problems.... B4 you split the casings take the piston off the connecting rod and put your finger in the hole in the top of the rod and see if you can spin the crank freely... If there is any stiff spots I would recommend ordering a new crank just to be on the safe side... I know it might cost to much right now but it is well worth it... You can get a hot rods crank off ebay for less than $200 and you can get a new piston for $80..
Im just saying this bc my blaster I bought for $200 in pieces and just threw it together so I can go riding and I ended up spending $300 twice bc I didnt clean the bottom end out and replace the crank...
