currently I have no breaks what so ever on my blaster except for a tiny bit of front when you hold the break in all the way. but not enough to come to a stop even on flat ground without down shifting. The rear breaks are missing completely and all that is left is the break pedal and the rotor. The previous owner gave me a bag of rear caliper parts but there rusty and there are some parts missing completely. so my question is, how hard would it be to gear up a hydro break system for my back breaks? or possibly my front breaks? using parts from another fourwheeler? I found an atv junkyard locally that has parts for quite a few different bikes so Im thinking that if I could score some 400ex break parts (only because the 400s are so common around here there would probably be lots of parts bikes at the junk yard) how hard would it be to gear up a half decent setup without spending a pile of cash (im a starving student :( haha , and I already spend most of my spare money buying the blaster) Im pretty good with mechanical things and I have a friend who is a machinist so he could make me up brackets if need be. Im just wondering if anyone else has tried this (other than the gsxr breaks setups, which are very nice but too expensive for me to buy and have shipped here to canada unfortunately :( ) and if there are any atvs that use parts close enough that they can be bolted right on to my bike or would be fairly easy to make work?

also, I havent had the chance to tear apart the front drum breaks to see if I can get them to work better. so Im more concerned about rear breaks, unless there is a better setup I can make for the fronts.
Thanks

awk08 sells a killer rear brake that will bolt on, and with the fronts, just clean them up, get new pads, and adjust them and they'll work just fine. there's a thread floating around on here on how to clean/adjust the front brakes

another option is to get the norman420 modified spindles and using rappy/warrior/banshee front brakes. and then you'll have hydros on the front

banshee rear brakes with fit up nicely, you have to make a mounting point for the resivor and will have to have the brake hub off a banshee, or off an 03+ blaster if it is 02 or older, as far as front brakes, make sure they are adjusted right, if they are, pull the drums, it may need new pads. The stock cable brakes suck pretty bad overall, but I don't have much trouble with them when I need them( can lock them up on basically everything but pavement). You can change the front brakes over but it takes a little more work.
