Well i got a new pipe and rejetted it to 300. it took a few kicks to start but isnt wierd since i had the bowl off etc. well when it started up it revved up kinda high stayed there went back down and that was it. Drove it like i stole it for a few hours and on the top end it cut out pretty bad felt like it was hittin a rev limiter and jumin up and down pretty bad. Well was ridin it today again for a few hours and it bogged pretty bad up top and sometimes almost never mid range. Well let a friend drive it and he was a second gear 1/2 throttle the whole time. He got off and said it didnt feel like it had any power so i get on i open it op it boggs and cuts out backfired poped like no other with no power. what do you think could cause this? it did that all through the rpm's???
help!!!!!!!!!!!!X(

sounds like u or your friend blew it up

there is no way he blew it up just put puttin like he was.

and i have a cfm air box clean filter cleaned a week ago with a lil ride in the back yard since and i blew cleaned the carb a lil when i put the jet in

For one thing if it wasn't running right the first time you rode it. You probably should not have been riding it like you stole it till you had it running right! now there is three stages there that need to run right.

1st idle slow zero to 1/4 adjust air screw to achieve highest idle possible then fine tune for low end response.if the air screw takes more than 2 1/2 turns out, (to idle ) you need a smaller pilot jet if the air screw is less than a half you need a bigger pilot.

2nd mid range 1/4 to 3/4 adjust needle clip position for best mid-range performance, start at #3. if performance is flat or runs very hot go richer (bigger) if it spits sputters like choke is still on, go leaner (smaller)

3rd top end 3/4 to wide open throttle
now if your motor pulls well from 1st thru 3rd gear, but bogs in 4th 5th 6th and your spark plug is black and/or wet use a leaner smaller main jet if performance is crispbut the motor is popping and plug is white go richer (bigger) Your plug should bea very light dry tan color.

Hopes this helps !

FIRST OFF ALL it was runnin rich (not bad on it) second of all it turned out to be a fouled plug becuase im rich and runnin half throttle and everytime he went around a corner he stabbed it real quick and let off. and 3rd i know i should drop a main jet size im gonna do that when i pull my exhaust off this week and while im already workin on it and do some plug chops

On occasion if you don't put the rings on the correct side. It will wear the cylinder and cause it to lose power exactly as your friend explained and be close to blowing up. The rings will be stamped with a T this goes on top. that and if you test pos. on the leak down test your AIR/FUEL mix was far out of wack to have been riding like a bat outta hell on. do all of this and you should be OK
