BMWDemon325es.

I agree larger amp is better. I have to say though I had a 400w infinity when I was a kid that was unreal hooked to a mtx 15. And that speaker went around my circle of friends for about 10 years. Prob the loudest system I ever had(except when I added another amp and 2 10" reg woofers) A proper box and the right wiring makes a difference to, especially if running dvc's.

research your sub and make or buy the correct cubic foot box.

I made a box to fit in a certain place in my trunk, its tight and not big enough. made from 5/8" plywood

i think im going to try fiberglassing the area to maximize the spot without cluttering my trunk

I had a 96 525i with over 200,000 on the motor. It still ran and drove great. The tolerances are so close in those things. The Germans know how to build a machine.

Please do not use plywood for your sub box. 3/4 inch. Particle or fiberglass. As far as the band pass configuration. They hide distortion well, but require a lot more power. A 5th order configuration works well.
This being 2 sealed facing sub chambers firing into a center band pass box. With a tuned port firing to the rear. The reason you would face it backwards would be to achieve a longer sound wave. Smaller subs react faster. So for rock choose a smaller diameter sub. Possibly 8s or 10s. A 12 or 15 produce lower freq and react slower which work better for Rap and Hip Hop. Anyway just my .02 good luck.

Thanks for all the advice. I'm just looking for a little more bass. I have to watch my Bass around my town. You get a ticket fast around here.

I had 2 12's in a custom Isobaric Reflex Box. I had the subs firing in a dipolar pattern. Because of the dipole, I had the port forward firing to maximize the slightly shorted wavelength. Having your subs work together and not fight one another really crisped the bass and made the 12s respond like 8s without losing any low end, And hit as hard as 15s when the Bass got gritty. This was in a 73 3.0 CSL.
