blasters will only run good with airbox lid off

With airbox lid on I get no power. Take it off and it hauls @$$. Thinking airleak? Have it parked waiting to test(awk08 has 1 on the way). Am I right in thinking airleak somewhere?

Also im switchin over to pre mix. Is it safe to remobe entire pump assembly and just leave the shaft there?( can't get mine to split to remove gear)

Better running by taking off the lid shouts dirty air cleaner or too much fuel getting into the float bowl.

Its been a few drinks since I removed my pump, but I seem to recollect that the pump will not come out without removing the gear, but I could be wrong for the first time in my life.I:I8-|8-|

Bear in mind that I suffer from old timers disease.

Switching to 32:1 pre mix could mean one size larger main jet, because of the less fuel in the mix.

It actually sounds like your running too rich, that's why the extra air the motor gets with the lid off makes it run better. An air leak would cause it to run lean, removing the lid would just make things worse if that was the case.

List all your mods and someone can get you a good sized jet.

As blaaster stated ... A dirty air filter could also be the culprit !

Have. 280 main in right now. 300 gave way to much and flooded it. 260 was in previously and was same way

Aboslutly not!!!!

You NEED a block off kit, or do a proper job of replacing the things to keep it sealed....

I'm air leak testin my motor now and I'm having a leak somewhere near the back of the emgine, i hear it whistle but cannot find it anywhere. Any ideas where it might be?
