thinking about buying a blaster from a local. i believe a 2000. only thing is he said that it hasnt been started in 2 years.

do u think the engine is ok or will i need to rebuild?

just put a drip of two stroke in teh spark plug hole and kick it over real easy and see how it feels, you could even try to start it but the gas is probally gone bad. if its not all locked up and has good comp then its most likely ok. how much you gonna pay?

he doesnt know anything about the blaster and got it on a trade. he wants 1000 but if it hasnt started in that long i am thinking something is bound to break quick.

ouch thats a bit high, you can get a freshly rebuilt one that gets run daily for less than that. no way would i pay that for a machine that hasnt run in two years. just cause its sat doesnt mean it going to break they are pretty basic and reliable.

^^^^^^ yes, you're looking for over 100psi, 120 is nice anything lower and it needs some work. any chance you can post some pics?

looks decent, if the chain came off be sure to check if it cracked the cases up my the sprocket. i still think $1000 is too much but it could be your area.

no i think he just looked at the other blasters in the area and thought he could get 1000 cause all it needs by him is a chain and sprocket

well good luck man, im off to work so post up whatever you decide to do or if you need any more advise just ask, lots of good people here. later man

I went on KBB Motorcycles, The retail value of it is $1345. If It needs new chain and sprockets, thats about $150, so around $1100, if it doesn't run i'd see if he'd take 700 or 800. Then for maybe $200-$250 depending on your area you could get it honed or bored. Pretty cheap to maintain. Also make sure before you start it, make sure it has Gear oil in it. There is a small half in. in diameter glass on the right side cover. It is hidden, so look really close! Make sure its filled to about 3/4 of the glass. DO NOT OVERFILL!

well went to look at it and here is the verdict.

fail

this guys knows nothing about quads, the engine is low 110 for compression 4 times i tried, he said well i kicked it over last night and it feels fine, haha i asked if he put oil or something in the chamber befor he kicked it over, he says" ahhh it will be fine there is a lil oil in the bottom" hmmm this made me think hell lets check the oil. WHAT oil there was no oil in it. so he kicked over a DRY motor 5 or 6 times, then he tried to start it when it had 2 year old gas and no oil. wow

brakes are shot
needs new sprocket set
chain
grips
tires
the rear brake rotor is also cracked
the wire bundle is allllll cut up. so i dont even think it would start anyway.

here is the funny part i tell him all these things NEED chenged befor it can be riden again and he says u dont need rear brakes, rid the old tires till they pop, and i think he said drive it like u stole it till the engine blows. so i offer 450 since it is in great shape other than what is listed he tell me to F**k off and says i wont take no lower than 800. so yah i didnt buy it need less to say.

oh and those pics are old as sh*t and its all torn apart right now. lol
