i recently picked up a 2004 blaster looks in pretty good shape..the last owner said it ran good but has been sitting for three months and needed a kickstart spring..so i put a whole new assembly in it,fresh cover gasket, fresh fuel with maxima 927 oil mixed 32:1,new uni filter, and new ngk plug..the question is when i filled the tank and tried to kick it over it wont start for the life of me..i pulled the plug and it has spark, fuel line flows fine.i dont know what else to do??the motor has a lot of compression when trying to kick.after it did not start i took off the the carb to inspect and it was full of fuel..is this normal??please help me,any ideas wanted, thanks jason

Leak test it, first to diagnose to see if it has a killer air leak.

If it passes a leak down test, it may be that it is simply flooded.

A motor sitting for a while can be hard to start.

The oil drains from components and pools in the bottom of the crancase and a lot of it can be thrown up the transfers.

Take the plug out and kick it some to try to purge the oil out of the plug hole, then try to start it again.

You may need to repeat the process a few times before the oil clears out.

Another thing it could be is that the needle and seat has some crap in it causing excess fuel to enter the fuel bowl.

BEFORE you even think about getting a big gnarly tempermental finiky motor built, learn to troubleshot the tame lowkey motor you have. If you cant figure out why your stock motor wont start, all your ported motor is going to do is drain your wallet, frustrate you and then you will be selling blown up parts cheap instead of enjoying your atv.

try sterilizing the carburator (clean the carburator realy realy good) get every nook and crany untill your carburator looks brand new. also take out the all of the jets and take a thin wire or a thin guitar string and put it in ALL of the holes. sometimes one small jet hole can be clogged and your blaster wont run. hope this helped.

wow thanks guys for the great input!!! i was looking and poking around again..i almost know for sure the carb needs a rebuild..i noticed the carb is not delivering fuel the whole problem..i called a shop today and they told me to put a little fuel into the spark plug holder.i did then put a new plug in and low and behold the blaster started first kick!!so tomorrow in gonna take some carb cleaner to it and rebuild it and then go from there..thank you all for such great input and helping a fellow new member!!!
