Hey guys, Im new to the forum and this is my first question. HOping you can all help me out..

Its an '88 that I have had forever. Just did the motor (which I have done to my other blasters with no issues) and now it seems to be running funny. I had it bored, installed new reeds and did all the lower end seals. Put everything back together and she fires right up. At about half throttle (not even moving) it breaks up but will continue to rev poorly. If you put it in gear and try to go, it drops right down and will stall. I have taken the carb apart, cleaned everything and made sure to blow air through all passages. The main jet was bumped to a 230 but everything else is stock, so I brought it down to a 220 thinking maybe it had too much fuel. No change. The front pipe had some remnants of mice being in the area when I put the quad back together. I used a friends borescope and looked in pipe, no nesting.

Im at a loss here and hoping someone can help me out.... Its got a new spark plug as well...

what kind of reeds did you install ?

Also I maybe be wrong there, but a stock jet is a 230.

You put new piston and rings in ?

Did you do aleak down test. ?

I installed Vitos dual stage reeds.. Yes, I installed a new piston and rings after having it bored. I never did a leakdown test, but I have the tester so I will give that a shot. I may have found the problem but havent had a chance to try and fix it yet. I pulled the carb apart and found the oring missing on the mixture screw. Im hoping thats it, but I wont know til tomorrow when I put a new oring on it and try again. Ill keep ya'll updated.

Good idea, one should always leak test directly after a rebuild, is saves many nasty surprizes.
