I have recently purchased a yamaha blaster from a friend for 20$ he said it went threw a flood and it needs a top end rebuild he had already put new rings and a piston on it and I purchased a new cylinder for it. We put the cylinder on today an I have cleaned the plug cleaned the tank an the petcock it has great compression fires good and is getting fuel and air. What could be rong?

The bottom end got flushed out as well? All water was removed from the crankcase? So you got a cylinder for the size piston you already had? As stated above check reeds then report back with more details. Would also be a good idea to get a new plug and clean out carb as well.
And yes my friend purchased a stock piston with rings there fore I ordered a stock cylinder all sludge and water was flushed out of bottom end to my knowledge carb was cleaned but better safe than sorry. So will clean that tomorrow. Hopefully it runs tomorrow Rlly hoping to see what this lil blasters got
also check compressoin. i doubt that your piston to cylinder clearance is within spec. where did you get the jug?
if i was u i wouldnt take ur friends word for it, spend 40 bux and change the trans oil. look in the sight glass and see what color it is. also compression test, leak test etc, all this is imperative to having a good strong motor.
ok fellas new problem I cleaned the carb checked the reeds three times replaced the plug she started then died then was kicking it somemore an the mother flipping motor locked up pulled offbthe cylinder an tried to move piston won't budge oiled it all down an nuthin wither need new bottom end or ...well screw this jus need new bottom end.....
