Corinth, Ms
i really want a blaster and always have...i have the chance to buy a 2001 for 400 bucks but it isnt running at the moment bc the guy said he mixed too much oil in the gas but says it was running fine before he did this ..what u guys think? should i pull the trigger and buy or is there more behind this story he is giving me

welll id offer 300 and see what he says but it sounds like you just might need a new pistion and rings and mabey a bore. someone correct me if im wrong!!!

mixing to much oil in the gas would just cause the plug to foul. If that's the case then you can buy a $2.50 spark plug and be on your way. Before you buy the quad go over everything on it. Check everything!

blaster.jpgwhat u think?

blaster 2.jpg and the frontend...can anyone tell anything from these pics...obviously a pic isnt much to go by but just by looking does it look decent?

what he said ^^^^ try to get him down from $400, use the bald tires, the fact that it doesn't run, anything wrong with it that you see, point it out. Never let him know that you really want the quad, act like you might walk away. That will help you get a better deal. It worked for me a couple times.

ive done got him down from 600 by just acting like i was going to walk away.. i know for a fact he will take 4 which im cool with paying if it isnt going to be a bad deal..and i wont have to end up rebuilding the motor

count on having to rebuild the top end sometime down the road, it's no biggie and will be good to go for years afterwards
under $300 for complete top end rebuild, keep an eye on the compression, when it gets down near 100psi, it's best to do it before the piston shatters and you need to do bottom end too
all the help and info you'll ever need to fix that thing is right here, one holler away !!!

man i really appreciate u guys taking the time to give me your opinions and help...i had bout talked myself out of getting it thinking that something way worse was going to be wrong or i was gettind lied to and screwed over but now i think i just might have to get it...ive wanted one for so long and i need a good work project for round the house on days off

there ya go, if your not afraid to throw a few bucks at it, or give yourself sumthin to do a few hours a week, go for it !!!!!!!!!

My thing is did any of the forum guys look closely at that front end picture it might just be me but i think those a arms are straight rather then at a angle so wouldn't that mean lowering kit????

i looked at that, and notice the brakes/spindles are showing more than usual, so i'm assuming it has wheel spacers or rims flipped, and maybe the shocks set on the lowest setting, or blown ???
all will allow it to sit a little lower
thats a minor fix though, stock shocks can be had cheap or free

I have a pair of stock shocks that I would be willing to give to the cause if that be the case. Maybe it has a diamond J widening kit.

I have never seen blaster a arms sit so straight due to the shocks?:-/

If he will let you, pull the plug and kick it over and check for spark, then leave the plug out and put your thumb over the plug hole and kick it over to check for compression. If you have those two things buy it. Then drain the gas and buy a new plug put fresh gas and oil in, and kick her over. And you got yourself a good blaster for cheap. LOL

correct, it's a combination of things, possibly lowering blocks, but i can't see if it has those
still not a deal killer

Close this thread and go buy the black and purple '96
That one looks cherry for $100 more, and runs !!!
With zero BS. about some widening kit from DG.
That I've never heard of .
