I started the bike up to take a ride went 5 feet and it locked up,,i was thinking the worse so i removed the cylindre and the piston/rings were good,so then i figued it had to be the crank bearings so decided ide start my rebuild early :) so started tearing it down and when i removed the flywheel i saw this..anybody ever have this happen to them ?

nice carnage pic !
did the coil come loose from the stator plate or did your flywheel loose a magnet ?

should i replace the whole thing or just the coil ?

if you can find a known good used stator, do that. avoid the aftermarket complete stators.
or replace just that coil

That sux !! That's an adjustable stator plate.. Try and find a good coil that's all.. I cant remember off the top of my head but I think its the Ricky stator coils that a few members on here have had problems with or a knock off of them ?? I cant remember. Best option would to be to find an oem one either new or a good used one..

Edit; Maybe that already is one of the Ricky stator adjustable stator plates and coil? Make sure the threads are good before just replacing the coil and use some threadlock so it doesn't happen again..
