I have a 2000 blaster that i got and it has a fresh top end, but doesnt like to idle and runs kinda choppy. It has a fmf powercore slip on pipe stock header, k and n air filterand its bored .40. I have a jet kit but i dont know what combo i should use to get it got idle and run crisp. Please help

I would do a good carb cleaning then adjust the air screw. The main jet doesn't affect your idle and your pilot doesn't need to be changed. Also do a leak down test to be safe.

first, completely disassemble and clean carb
then reinstall the stock 32.5 pilot jet, set airscrew at 1.5 turns out, use the stock needle on the middle clip position

and start with a 240/250 for the k&n filter, none of your other mods require any jetting changes...pipe ect.

then plug chop each jet till you get it correct, start with the bigger jet and work down........

that should be bumped 1 or 2 sizes for that k&n, or it may have a meltdown

^^^^ totally agree with Awk and you best do a plug chop to verify you're not lean. 240 is used for cold weather on stock motors and that K&N will flow more air than a stock filter.

yep....230 stock jet on a K&N filtered airbox, in these cold temps, then go down your road and hold it wide open for 5 minutes
we know all the answers to melted pistons questions too, < the answer to yours is gonna be you didnt take the advice of 3 seasoned veterens above when told to bump it to a 240/250 and plug chop!!!!
but hey....it felt good for a few minutes !!!!
we'll be here waiting for the carnage pics !!!!

my guess is a 240/250
start with a 250 and do a plug chop, that will tell you to go up or down.
we can't tell you exactly as temps and elevation play a big part in how much air your motor is getting

heres the link again, grab yourself some extra plugs, it must be done exactly like this, reading the "smoke ring" down inside on the insulator, not the whole insulator or the tip................

The smallest jet i got is a 290 main. Would it run alrite with an open airbox, k and n filter, bored .40 with a 290 main in like 18 degree weather?

Not perfect, but better than lean. If it doesn't run too crappy (like before) or foul plugs to fast, you'll be safe till you get some more jets.
