Hey all! I'm new here, just picked up an 01 blaster saturday, it had been sitting for a few years. Anyway, I checked the compression, it blew 120 psi, which I believe to be usable. I also checked spark, it had no spark. I cut the tors wire by the throttle switch spliced it together, now it has spark. So I cleaned the carb, and now it will run... a little.
It cranks up and idles fine but when I try to rev it, it will go up to maybe 1500 rpm and then sits there and splutters. If I'm in neutral and I hold the throttle on long enough, after about 10-15 seconds it will rev up further, and over the course of about 10 seconds get up to the higher rpms. Also, I tried riding it around, and even on flat ground it won't pull itself around. Even if I hold it up in the higher rpms and very very slowly feather the clutch out.... it dies. Or if I'm facing downhill it goes, just very slowly (I'm talking maybe 700 rpms, you can hear the individual combustion events taking place).
At first it wouldn't even get up to higher rpms at all, but I pulled the air filter and lid and it got a little better.
Is this probably just a jetting issue, or an air leak, or?? I'm at about 3500 feet fwiw. I messed with the air screw and it did nothing.
I have the proper tors delete kit coming next week, along with a pack of jets.
Also, forgive me if this is already answered somewhere, I have searched and couldn't find anything quite like this issue.
Thanks
