Hi. My Yamaha blaster is down on power. It has no reeds new top end new carb new chain and sprockets new clutch cable and new accelerator cables . It's starts first kick all the time but have to keep it slightly rev until it gets warm or else it will shut off. Anyone have any ideas.

Does it start easier when warm? Does it run better warm?

Compression test it.

How many hours on top end?

What does a 'new' top end include?

It runs better when it's warm. About 3 hours on top top end . Top end includes piston and cylinder. After I put the new engine on compression was 95 psi. Why would it be so low? Mabey I need to rebuild the bottom end.

who did the instal?

Low power on a cold motor, and good power on a hot motor shows a motor rebuild on the horizon. But with yours being done a couple hours ago is confusing.

What break in process did you use?

Did you comp test it as soon as the motor was installed? You will get faulty test scores if the rings aren't set yet (aka break in).

How's it idle?

I done the rebuild myself. Went fairly smooth no problems . I used the one len o Connor said to use heat it 3 times constantly revving it and adjusting the revs. I let it cool down between. Ya I done the compression test after I had that done. But I can love the kick starter fairly easy with my hand . I can't understand it . New head gasket and new cylinder gasket along with tec 7 for gasket sealer. I don't know what's wrong. It doesn't idle to good to Be honest. Sometimes I have to adjust the idle but a few minutes later I will have to adjust again
I took the top end apart today again and it seems to Be still good . The no oil/fuel on piston but a small bit on the head.

the rings haven't moved from the retaining clip on the piston have they?
Thanks for your replies and help. After more searching around I noticed that around car b was blowing out air so I sealed that up and it's good now . Thanks for ur help though
