blaster disaster...help

Unless the woodruff key is broken the timing should be ok.

If you have a good spark, and it splutters and tries to start you may have flooded it.
Turn the petcock off, drain the carby, remove the spark plug and kick it with the throttle wide open until your leg hurts.
Put in a new plug, reverse all other processes and try to start it.

im assuming that your not using gas that is 2plus years old out of your garage and that you did not try to re gap your plug in a un smart way ...i have bought many quads plus dirt bikes for my kids that had really bad gas and plugs that were nearly touching.....someone may have messed the tors up as well

gas is new and I gapped the plug myself. Tors is discoed and it has ran with the tors its present condition. I am not using a Yamaha hose clamp on the boot, it is wider than the factory one that stripped out. I can't see that being the reason. It fits tighter than the old one

no it stopped running and air was coming out of the vent. I changed the seal along with a s load of other parts that were not working either. It is in way better condition now than we acquired it except it ran then, and now...not so much.

maybe you should take some pics of your quad and post them up in this thread also you should not have to gap your plug at all it is just fine straight out of the box ......the only time i have had a blaster backfire is when the parking brake was on and i tryed to give it gas but regardless it should start check all electrical ......new plug without touching the gap ...new gas... compression.... is ther tranny oil in your crank case ??? IF YOU TOOK SUMMIN APART AND PUT IT BACK IN A DIFFERENT WAY THEN UN DO IT LEAVE NO STONE UN TURN INCLUDEING ANYTHING ON HANDLEBARS CARB ECT...... POST SOME PICS......

to be more clear. I checked the gap. It was correct out of the box as it should be. having issues uploading a photo. I am on my 3rd go around looking for the unturned stone.. I will do it again.

yeah get a compression tester at a auto parts store also i was thinking that your crank may not be spinning freely enough was there any metal shaving in bottom end or top end .....if it ran like crap when you got it..... who knows the person before you could have went in there and took all the broken bearing pieces out then sold it to you ....it happenend to my yz250..it still ran but barely and un rideable .they say you can try to wiggle the flywheel up n down or whatever but when it happened to me there wasw not play in flywheel and clearly a bad main bearing....worst comes to worst at least if you replaced crank main bearing you will have a long lasting engine with proper maintence.....not sure what you paid for your blaster or if it is worth it to you...how much money have you spent???? you can buy a completly rebuilt engine on ebay for like $600....

if you dont want to take it to a shop to save money....your running out of options ...check for any electrical tap as well sure sign of ass backward wiring...there is also the option of dumping a little bit of gas right in spark plug hole.....if it fires up longer then before then there you go it carb related..im sure alot of peeps will be like what the heck is he talking about moron.....i have done it on small motors like chainsaws weed wackers ect ...when your just to lazy to clean carb lol :) or in a hurry... cold wheather dont help either..al though it should still run and start.....how the heck are you going to adjust carb perfectly if you cant start it...or ride it ??......does your chock stay out when you pull it?? or does it go back in after you kick it ...if it does you will need to hold it or fix it.....you may have even lowered the compression by changing piston and ring if you got the wrong size???? to all of fellow blaster forum people take it easy sometimes people need to be talked to like little kids not saying your a kid cuz your actually older then me lol:) either way i dont have a problem fixing my rides....and evereyone i buy turns out better then when i bought it :) upload some pics of your progress if you like you could be over loooking summin verrrrrry simple......1mb is limit more then likely you will have to resize your pics look for software online.... or crop your pics to reduce size i am pro at pics if you need some help ask me or send them to me in a email and i will post them.....................................for you

Whoa hold on there Speedy, never, never, never advise anyone to dump fuel into the cylinder of any engine it washes away all lubrication.

And do not tell me that the oil in pre mix lubricates because it does not have any lubrication properties whilst in suspension.

there is something clanging around in there. been there since I got it. It doesn't appear to be blocking it. I makes alot of smoke while attempting to start.

another thing that wont hurt check your gas cap for ventilation un screw it so it loose also i would turn off the headlight that only going to make generator work harder .....it will def run different with no air box/filter on there or sound different one or the other......you succefully got a video up how about a upsclose walk around of carb maybe topend with head off.... or whole darn thing...

aaaaahhhhh, thats the baffle broken loose in there, it will indeed get stuck in some positions that will block the pipe, and drive you nuts with bogging and jetting nightmares, it got me once.

time for a new pipe before you waste any further time, effort, or $
or cut it open, remove baffle and weld the trap door shut

i take it the oil injection is eliminated since there is not canister on there what are you mixing it at 4 0z per gallon i hope.....not much can be revealed from video but you did get another gremlin address your exhaust.....now this sounds weird but it really looked to me that you were kicking it forward instead of rearward...problably not even possible but ...........some quads bikes need a little throttle bump with a kick ......to get going as well ......another carb out of whack lol.....
