I'm a new owner of a 240 blaster and was doing basic maintenance and inspected clutch. I noticed the outer clutch basket and gear its connected to had about 1/4 inch of play. Book says to replace. I hate buying stuff new when i can fix whats broke, so I tore it apart. I was surprised to find rubber in between basket and gear. I'm thinking this rubber was mainly for the enduro/overseas bikes that were also ran on asphalt. Rubbers take up initial shock of dropping clutch on asphalt. My rubbers were compressed bad so after alot of thinking I welded the two together solid. I found a spot that was steel on steel and welded there. Aftermarket baskets are all solid from what i've seen so I should be find. No drag racing on road anymore
