Was riding my blaster today in the fresh snow we got and it was reall fun until it bogged down and died and wouldnt restart. I finally pulled it home with my 400ex that my buddy was riding and let it sit in the garage, i came back to it 4-5 hours later and when i kicked it over, it felt like it was gonna start and it did, but it didnt run very long, it idled for about 3 secs and died. it restarted but it willl not idle. i really know what to do, i wanna get an airbox cause i hate this clamp on. yes, it is jetted, it has 360 main, 1.5 turns on a/f screw, and 3rd needle clip. Also, my clutch has no like "compression" it has slack with the clutch cable adjuster all the way out and its really loose....i dont know what to do...

so how much colder is it out? did you rejet? what did the compression test say? is there still gas in the tank? carb clean? filter clean?

you've been around long enough to check all of these things before having to ask

Compression tester not availible at the moment, filter is clean and oiled, plenty of gas, carbs spotless

bad reeds? but my friends bike did that when it needed a new top end, hopfully thats not your problem though!

I think i just need to get away from Blasters. I might end up having my gpa trading it for a 300ex or a non running 400ex. or if he wants a 4x4, we might trade it for honda 4x4 350 or something...

air leaks suck but once you understand them you wont ever blow up another engine, unless your jets are lean...

it really is simple

you never said if you rejetted for the cold weather?

if you didn't, its not the blaster's fault....

Worst 4 wheeler I've ever owned. Yes, its jetted for the cold weather. I did a plug chop a week ago when it was 28*F and the plug came back an oily black..meaning its rich.

Air leak alert!!!!!!!!

I HAVE NOT HAD ONE PROBLEM WITH MY BIKE IN 5-6 MONTHS AFTER I LEAK TESTED AND GOT JETTING DIALED IN...

it still runs but wont idle?

does it cut out when you have it running and you hold the throttle?

if it is limited to an idle issue it could be a compression issue but it could also be an over-rev switch that got wet and shorted out.
water in the bowl due to the slip on air filter.
a partially broken reed petal.

and it still could be a spark plug.
i have had several blaster plugs go out slowly, stop idling, or stop reving and then go out completely a short while later.

start with the simple, check the bowl for water, then check the reeds for breaks or significant wear.
while you have the reed cage off slowly kick the engine over and look at the piston skirt see if there are any scratches on it and look at the rings through the intake area.

replace the sparkplug.

if nothing else check the needle clip. my bogged and died and wouldnt start. almost the same thing but doesnt hurt to check and make sure its still on it.
