I was wondering for the money what would you guys say is the best up grade I could do. I ride in the sand 99% of the time.

2000 Blaster
NO TORS
Oil Block off
FMF pipe
K&N direct to carb (No air box)
Filter skins
290 Main jet

Sorry I did not mention I have paddle tires. I guess I should say what up grade to the engine. Paddle tires where a good up grade though : )

PORT IT!! On my old Blaster I had RB racing port mine, like 250 bucks. It had twice the power as before I had it ported. Still had stock carb, too. Your Blaster probly gets 17- 20 hp right now. A good port job will put you at around 25 to 30 if I had to guess. Add a 32-35mm carb, and you'll probly be pushing close to 32-34 hp. You can get porting and a used carb for probly 350 bucks easy. V force reeds might give you 5 more horsepower max. You decide...OR...I have a 240 cylinder with race head fully ported that needs a bore in the for sale section. A new bore and piston will run you about 150 bucks. I guarantee you'll have at least 40 horsepower with a good pipe and carb (which I also have for sale). Do some research and holler at me if you're interested..Around $300 shipped for both...Porting is definately the most cost effective mod, though, hands down

What kind of paddles do you have? If you do not have scat track haulers, you need those. I have ridden different bikes in the sand with non-scat track tires and switched to the scats, and the difference is night and day.

Let me give you a couple scenarios. I had a 92ish Blaster with .040" over bore, Pro Circuit Platinum pipe, and a 250 dollar internet port job. Also had 20" 7 paddle haulers on 10" rims, stock swinger and carb. I ran across a couple guys with pipes and non Hauler paddles. I would launch in 2nd and beat them by at leas 6 lengths every time. Next I met a guy with a nice blaster, painted frame, custom plastics, 240 kit, ectended swingarm and 9 paddle haulers. We raced and I beat him 9 out of 10 times. His problem was he had too much paddle. I could take off in 2nd and spin the tires just enough to get a perfect launch, and before I knew it, I'd be in 3rd and pulling him hard. He would have to launch in 1st and he had to shift twice to get into 3rd, and I would pull him just about every time. If I had a bigger carb, I'da seriously embarassed him. Basically, it is not just power but a good setup that makes you fast. Porting, a good exhaust, and a 33-35mm carb will make you quite fast. If you are riding sand your only option are running haulers. I found that 7 paddles work the best for the Blaster. You can get a good launch in 2nd, and good pull on top.

Ok.....kind of an old thread but anyone like that vito's piston that changes or "tricks" the porting? Does it work and how reliable?
