backfire????

Does back fire make any diference to the engine ???
is it good or bad???

its really bad for the valves on 4-strokes, im not sure how bad it is on a 2-stroke, i know that mine has only ever backfired once and it was a doozy,it sheared my flywheel key

i was told that could be caused by an airleak anywhere from the front of carb to the motor im still trying to figure why mine does it

it can be caused by an airleak, or you could have incorrect jetting (to rich perhapse?) and you are getting excess fuel and it goes boom. haha

try a new plug and check your head make sure its tight.. also try draining the carb of what ever is in it... There might be some water.. JUST A FEW IDEAS!! GOODLUCK...

you should probably rejet. try a new main because i have a 250ex that does the same thing and that's what i'm doing. it has done this ever since i put my new fmf pipe on. i'll let you know what happens with it since were having a similar problem. good luck.

have you pull the cylinder off and checked it? i would consider checking it and all the gaskets, just to be safe!
