ok so whats the trick of holding the axle in place to take the nuts off the axle?i just bent my sprocket trying to use somethin to stop the axle from spinning.seems like everytime i try to fix somethin i break somethin else.i need some help here
Are you using two wrenches turning each of them the opposite way? If not just put a wrench on both nuts, loosen the outside nut while slightly tightening the inside nut.The nuts should be tightened against each other.Hope this helps.
thanks but i got them loose finally.got the axle out.got one bearing out of the carrier and the other is stuck on the axle.havent tried to get it off yet.and the other metal tube thing came out on the axle.i had to quit workin on cuz there to many mosquitos in the garage.
would it be ok to leave the new bearings and seals in the frezzer till tomorrow afternoon or is that to long?
There is no need to leave them in the freezer, they are not like crank bearings that have very tight tolerances.Just put them in and the axle will slide right in.If you decide to leave them in they will be fine overnight in the freezer.
Putting the axle bearings in the freezer isn't going to help you get the axle into them....I guess it would help get them into the carrier a little easier. I always just tap them in lightly with a mallet and a big socket to protect the bearing. Tap it in evenly and slowly.
