today i tried to clean out my carb and change my spark plug and my motor still no worky :( so ive decided to attempt to rebuild the top end myself. i have some experiance not a lot, but with the how to on here i think i can do it. Any idea how hard it will be for a novice?

my fast help questions:

i know i need to get the cylinder honed. were can i get this done and will i still be able to use this kit?

can i order this kit tonight that way it will be here soon? or should i wait until i get my cylinder back?

Thanks

you can just take your cyli to most shops and they can hone it for ya .. if not you could always buy a hone tool at most auto parts stores .. i go tmine from horbor freight and it works great .. its shouldnt be to hard to rebuild it your self, just take your time and ask all the questions you may have .. are you sure your cyli is a std bore?..

im 90% sure it is, but i cant be 100. i bought it used in 06 and since ive had it i havent done anything to it.

is there an easy way to find this out?

Also, so i could just take it to Pete's Cycles and ask them to hone it?

also if it is standard, and i hone it, i can still use a standard piston?

yea i think it is but i dont think it comes with the top end gasket kit, its not hard just take the pipe off, carb off, and pop the head off and take the 4base nuts off and pull the jug/cyli off and take it some where and get it done ..

What needs to be done is take the cylinder to be measured first to see if it needs to be bored or not. If it does get the piston in hand so the cylinder can be bored and honed to the piston.

hey man. so if i take the cylinder to a shop, and they will see if it needs to be bored or honed? and if it does then i have to get that size piston and take it back to them with the cylinder and then they will bore it/hone it?

correct?

yes take the cylinder off and to a shop get them to measure it and see if it can just be honed out if its to far gone and needs to be bored find out what bore it is on now and order the next size up piston kit than take it to the shop and let them bore and hone it to that size then put it back together and have fun
