I am stepping up to a larger carb and might need a new intake manifold unless I decide to carve out the existing one. I looked around and checked out all the aftermarket ones, but I think I might kill myself before I pay $70+ for a small piece of metal plate and rubber. I had a few things in mind, but I was just wondering how you guys running larger carbs dealt with the issue either by buying an aftermarket or by making your own.

pro-design !!!!! billet plate, then just had to buy a new 34mm boot for like $25 when i went bigger
but have heard the upp ones flowed the best on banshees
bought a snyder one and didnt like it, sold it the next day without even putting it on.

I like their design and flexibility, but I just can't justify the price for something that really only cost about $5 in raw materials. :(

To make the rubber piece of the intake fit (dont quote me on this), i have heard of people placing the intake into boiling hot water until its soft then wedge your carb into it and let it cool, it SHOULD strech it.

yes, it has been done that way.
If you heat the rubber you can stretch it to fit.
I had to do this a long time ago on a zinger so I know it works.
