hey all, quick question, everyones opinions appreciated.
i have a good bud that works at a company in the city that does chroming and allum. anadizing... he gets real bored cause he works alone on third shift !!! he can give me a great deal on chroming and anadizing(good hit right !!!) lol..so my question is : , im thinking about taking both sides of my base off to give to him to be chromed. what concerens me is if i have both sides dipped(crankcase cover ..etc), do i have to worry about the chrome chipping or flaking and getting into things like my crank or oil pump, clutch...etc..? im also gonna have my clutch and brake levers, oil tank anadized...my foot pegs and heal guards chromed..im pretty excited about this. all imput appreciated or any other sugestions that i maybe should have done.I:I

that'd be pretty tight..but I doubt that it would chip as easily as you're thinking it will.

a gear or big piece of debris would really have to hit the chrome hard to get it to chip if chromed correctly, whether inside or outside you should be fine

I've never heard of anyone chroming there engine cases. I sent mine out and had them polished but not chromed. Let me know how it turns out

no.
no oil pump in there, prob no need to worry about the chrome chipping like that as long as the guy knows what he's doin. plating fuses donor metal molecules to the plated piece through electrolysis. that's pretty damn permanent. unless the guy sux at chroming!
but if you're real worried about it, just get a magnetic drain plug.

If you chrome the insides how are you going to fit the bearings back into place? The bearings pretty much have to be pressed in to begin with. I honestly think your gonna run into problems when you try to press those bearings in. I think its going to rip the chrome off and get chips everywhere.

You might not even be able to get those bearings back in if you chrome plate it. Definately ask how thick the chrome is and post back.

I'd go with polishing instead actually. I misread a couple of things.
