Am I Too Lean? (pics inside)

A plug chop is a faster way of getting the reading you are looking for.If your still running the oil pump yeah maybe a plug chop to make sure your mix is consistant maybe.IMO there is not enouph run time on that plug to read it.I really dont want to get into it.If a plug chop was so vital to read your plug than why dont they pute this in the owners manual or service repair guide.I believe these guys are pretty smart.I just dont go threw all that.If my plug has white ash then we know its too lean with out having to cut into it.And if there is something I dont know well then I have the repair manual to look the sh*t up.All you guys are so quick to just say whats the plug chop when there are so many other things to consider. If my sh*t is lean Ill feel the heet inbetween my legs the lack of smoke comming out the exhaust and change in performance given these simptoms and the variation of load I have on this kids toy. Some one with some brains and no how dont go strait for whats the plug chop.If your running the correct mix and your plug is dark tan and perfromance is good tuned to the feel of the way you ride then ride the damn thing. If your doing crazy mods and experimenting with mix ratios yeah chop it as waiting to get an accurate reading is not ideal.

Yes sures I do do this on my bikes My last top end rebuild was more than 10 years ago and it still runs strong. Its not rocket science. There is nothing hitech about this machine its pretty basic.

Im not a troll.I just dont understand why I get bashed for not doing a plug chop.Im not bashing people for doing plug chops its a way of reading your plug.Just everyone goes strait for the chop.Really this is something they do in hotrods at the drag strip where there is no oil mix and there not running unleaded either.

Not everyone shares your special gift. For the rest of us mere mortals, plugs chops are the way to go. :)

Its not a gift I just jet by ride and feel for best overall performance then increase the jet size a couple numbers. Most people jet this way.You can pull your plug and look in the manual to get the info. Its not a special gift.I do have a tool that measures the temperature of the motor that comes in handy.A plug chop is not always accurate either from what I have read but I dont know this first hand.I:I

I feel like I am talking to a child when it comes to you blaaster. An intelegent person would respond to this in a manner which points out pros and cons between the two methods. All you can say is pretty much that Im an idiot with nothing to back up anything between cutting your plug or just going by whats writen in the owners manual and repair guide that has been writan by people that have gone to an IT tech school. My point is if I have a plug and it shows its tan with white ash.Why would I throw a fresh plug in to do a chop when the answer is right in front of me.Of course its lean. You have thrown in some good points as well Im not saying your ways are better or wrong in any form.Of course a plug chop will work as well. But there are a lot more factors that go into this. Not just by looking at the plug in any case........I am done with this.THE MOST LOGICAL AND INTELEGENT THING TO DO WOULD BE FIRST PURCHASE A TUNE UP AND REPAIR MANUAL.I:I.

You can not go by someones word on tunning and engine problems by others words half a world away nor by the look of a plug. Its a hands on thing. You can really only use this sight for a reference and starting points to someone with the same parts or situation and apply it from what you have learned by reading a service manual.

This guy has a record for hurassing people over the dumbest things and I have received multiple pms from other members warning me about this guy from spelling to just stupid stuff. This guy just dont know when to stop or cammunicate with people in an intelegent way.Its his way or your an idiot.I live in the usa not out in the outback where teck is 20 years behind.Puts some facts behind your responces with something to back your knowledge up.Thats intelegent.Google how to properly tune a 2 stroke copy and paste it.I pasted your own book and you still said it was the wrong way....Do you have old timers or something.Im a nice guy but man I am seriously tired of your criticism when I respond to things that are conventional and from the repair manual and from pro mx riders and pit crews.Your an idiot to think all you need to know is someones mods and the color of there plug chop to tune there bike.

I say again plug chop is one method of jetting. This guy is attacking me for all the wrong reasons.A plug chop is for beginners that have no clew or understanding on how your bike is supposed to feel and perform.I will not critisize for some one that does not have this knowledge. We all leanred and started from somewhere. And we are still learning. But I would advise you seek help from a professional. You can do a plug chop and check your heat range for each of the carbs sercuits. And as you gain more experience you will start to tune to the feel and be more familiar with signs of rich and lean settings. Now I am not talking about rich as in add more oil to your gas. This is rich or lean as adding more or less fuel(32-1) threw the jetting of the carb.
