In your dreams.
I just swapped out my stock rear shock for a 400EX piece. It makes a big difference but now my airbox lid does not fit because of the res. on the new shock. The res takes up the space that the snorkel coming off the airbox lid runs. How can I put the lid back on the airbox?

I know alot of you run your Blastys without the lid so I tried this with my friend's K&N air filter on Sunday. My engine felt boggy in 3rd gear and I didn't like the feel at all. Any way that I can modify the lid so it fits back on, and can get air through it?

Thanks in advance!

well you can take the lid off... but never ever do that again unless you jet it too... you were running way lean which is why it felt boggy... so either A. cut the snorkel off B. ditch the lid and rejet. or C. buy a aftermarket box.

taking the lid off will give you more power, but u have to rejet, stressing on the HAVE TO

you are getting a lot more air with the lid off, so u need to increase the fuel

no its not enough of an adjustment... the fuel screw is only for minor adjustments you need to go up a few jet sizes from like 230 to a 250 or so... definitely dont ever do it by just adjusting the screw...

the airscrew only effects the pilot circut, not the main jetting

and i ran my 450r shock with the lid, just cut off the snorkel mount on the lid, but it still rubbed the box to much for my likings, and i went cfm box

and as stressed before, unless you wanna see how fast you can fry pistons, you'll need to rejet, prolly like stated to a 250

yeah im gonna have to pick up a few jets, dont got any around, though i did run it today with the lid on and im about 1/4 throttle and then floor it and it slowly climbs up until in the powerband, then i took the lid off and it had way better acceleration.. thinkin it was jetted for winter when i baught it, but not sure if i should re jet since it runs smooth through the throttle now>??

its gonna seem like it runs great with the lid off... but that doesnt mean its running healthy... so lets start here.. if you take that lid off with a stock exhaust id say run a 250 and do a plug chop.. if you have the B-1 (cause i cant tell if thats on there or soon to come) then run more like a 310 or 320 and do a plug chop... always plug chop and rejet

listen to ace, thats sound advice, pull the carb and see whats in there for a main, before you fry chit !!!!!!
