Ok i have a tiny little tear(size of a small flathead screw driver) where the lip is on my intake boot.(carb to Box) Now could that honeslty be considered an air leak??
Like the thing is, i have an air leak. IDK where the hell it is to begin with!! like i read on Ken's page the a base gasket failure signs are oil coming between the head and bottom end but where does it come out at?? cause i have oil coming out where the oil cover would be.
yes it would be an airleak because it is adding air after the carb where the fuel and air is mixed to your precise jetting... anything after the carb to the exhaust if there is air getting in its a leak.
Ya Erik, give me your address so I can ship this flippin boot to ya! That spooge is either from the exhaust flange or the base gasket. Do another leak test, after you get the boot put on. and see what ya get. You are plugging the exhaust right?
HOLYY HELL!! that god dammed exhaust flange leaks so much oil its not funny!! But i havent ever done a compression test on my quad! yes i know im a fool and been around here, but i have been wanting to do it. my parents yell at me anytime i do somethng to it. But hey goota get done some-how. and i hope it's not this damn base gasket
oh its spooging out the front of the engine... yeah its probably a 97% assurance its out the exhaust... mine leaked so bad it ran gunk the whole way down the front of my engine to the lower mount
I couldn't get my flange to seal either I even lapped it a few times, so I bought a piece of Mr. gasket exhaust material and cut a gasket out and taht is what I use. Fuk that little o-ring crush gasket, even new never worked for me.
