Do aftermarket silencers make a noticeable difference on a stock pipe?

Also, I have a Uni filter and removed the lid with a stock exhaust. What jet would be good to use as a starting point for a plug chop?

X2 on the 260 main jet. If you are interested in better sound and performance look into getting a used pipe and silencer. They can be bought for around $150. FMF is a cheap and popular exhaust. It makes good power in low and mid range. If you are looking for a top end pipe look into a right bend.

Thanks for all of the replies.

Does it matter if the silencer and pipe are different brands?

Well they made an adjustable and a non adjustable. I know the other silencers will not fit with the adjustable pipe. Not sure about the non adjustable pipe.

270 seemed to have the best results in these cooler temps. Mine still has oil injection, so i'm curious to know if the oiling is still sufficient. I use Bel Ray 2T mineral oil and 90 octane ethanol free fuel.

Worry not about the amount of oil injected, the ratio will stay the same at approx. 20:1 which ever pipe you run.

Please perform a plug chop to confirm the #270 is the correct jet, just don't say it seems to be right.

So many folks have cooked a top end because they were just a tad on the lean side, take no chances, plug chop.

Here the plug chop with the 270, I was thinking that the color looked ok, but I'd like to have you all ponder this one and let me know what you think. I haven't tried anything higher than a 270 thus far.

A personal preference of mine is to always run at least one jet size richer than optimum, if it were me I would opt for a #290.

A good to run plug.

Mine doesn't look anything like that. I'll change out to a 290 and do another plug chop. Thanks again for the info.
