So, I have been afk for awhile, mainly because I just pretty much dropped the blaster fix due to no money... But I'm back baby.

So, I'm looking for a lot of 'cheap' ways to get it running good.

I'm still having the same problems. Top end blown up, found out my blaster is most likely bored out (Correct usage there?) If I need a new cylinder due to it not being able to be bored out anymore. ( Isn't 4.00 over the max?) is there any easy way to tell if it is bored out? also, my clutch is dinked. It just doesnt work. also, I can push my fourwheeler while it is in gear, is this normal with it blown? Also, it backfires. Not sure if it does now, but it did before I put boyeson reeds in it... Any other problem might be causing this? How do you tell what year your blaster is, without taking of the head? Sorry for the long post. And the most likely noob questions, but hey, I need help. Oh, also, any good tips for jetting, I hate the oil injection.

not really any way of telling what size piston without taking the head off that i know of back firing sounds like tros cdi or main jet has trash in it and whenyou push it while it is in gear are you pulling the clutch in if ot your clutch is probably toast

I can push it while it is in gear without the clutch, however, Instead of it being in neutral when you pull in the clutch, it just stays in gear and takes some of my strength to push it, just like it is if the clutch wasn't pulled in...

It wasn't a leak, the top of the piston feels like sandpaper, and it ran with no oil for about 2 weeks due to a rat chewing on the oil line...

Well I guess it could have a leak, but it's like 99% chance that's not what caused it too blow...

Classic symptom of a lean mix caused by an air leak.

Lack of lubrication usually causes heat seizure and excessive wear.

Yup I meant lean mix, not oil deprived, but gas deprived caused by poor jetting or an air leak.

No oil will do it!, Ya didn't notice oil everywhere? Damn rats! ya have a 06 so could the parking brake be on?, are the brakes dragging at all, Put the ass end up on a crate when in neutral, spin the rear tires, If it won't spin unless you pull the clutch in, your gonna have to remove the clutch cover and physically see what kind of action the clutch makes when you pull the lever. Does the pressure plate release? Measure the fiber plates, in the manual it gives you a picture of how to measure your looking for 2.92mm to 3.08mm anything less is worn out, If the steel plates are burnt (discolored) they are bad. The clutch plate springs have to be at least 30mm in length also. If one of the items don't measure correctly, replace with new clutch kit! You could still have an air leak!

I use this brand clutch- Yamaha Blaster Big Bore Stroker Heavy Duty Clutch Kit | eBay

I tried Tusk , but the fiber plates i got would not fit in the basket the sent me another with the same problem, Got refunded!

Well, I did notice oil everywhere, but, I have had my oil injection lid thing fall off, that got oil everywhere. So I passed all the oil to that. Parking brake was on. The bike, when in neutral pushes fine. it won't go while in gear while holding the clutch in. I can push it without the clutch, just a bit hard. Thanks.

So the clutch is working but the tranny won't shift? Rock the quad back and fourth- and see if it shifts.

I have to run out for a while....

It'll shift through neutral and first, not sure about the other gears because, well it doesn't run... Any way I can check the other gears?

Again, put a crate under the ass end to elevate the wheels, your not gonna be able to spin the wheels when its in gear but if you rock them back and fourth you should be able to get it to click into each of the six gears.

1- stock is 66mm last bore is 68.25mm You will need to measure the bore to see what's left or have the machine shop do that.

2- No it's not normal unless the piston has disintergrated, or the rings are gone and there is no compression at all.

3- Backfiring is never good. Could be a timing issue, worn out reeds, elctrical problem. If it did it once and never again , I wouldn't worry about it.

4- Get the Vin number off the quad on the left side , by the foot peg, then use the vin decoder to see what year!

I'd wait to trouble shoot until you get your motor rebuilt, can't hurt to put in a new clutch pack! If it's an 06 you have a possible good six years on that pack and it's probably shot- Do the internal adjustment and the free play adjustment after new clutch pack install!
