I had recently bought a yfz-450 shock for my blaster but i don't know how to adjust the shock for softer ride... Can anyone explain how to do it?

yes, there are 2 screws on the spring. one is to adjust the rebound rate and the other is to adjust the stiffness.

also, you see how on the shock there is a threaded thing with 2 lock things on it. The more you compress the spring, the stiffer it is...the less you compress it the softer it is.

You need a special tool to adjust that though.

time and paitence...

first set the sag between 1/4 and 1/3 of total travel, unless you have mega travel.

then find a long set of whoops, and blast thru them, was the shock soft or too hard?? did it kick up in the back or pack up. decide what you want to change, don't go mor than 3 clicks at a time, only adjust one thing at a time, compression or rebound..what did that change do?? better? worse? make another change and evaluate. keep a log so you know what changes did what. sooner or later it will get a lot better, keep goingyou went from bad to ok...you want great. it can help to have someone video you, then watch the video in slow motion to see what exactly is happening. that will show you if you have too much rebound and it's 'packing up' since there is too much rebound dampening the shock cant expand enough after every hit and your travel gets shorter and shorted every pump. you can see if the back end is kicking up (not enough rebound) where the shock expands so fast it makes the back end bounce. you can also see in slow motion if it is using too much travel or if it isnt moving enough.

Once you have the ride height/sag set, the spring really shouldnt effect how the suspension reacts. that should all be handled by valving springs control ride height. valving controls how the suspension acts.

good valving can make up for bad springs but good springs can NOT make up for bad valving.
