A few of you know how new I am to atv's, and some of you don't. I've been riding mostly utv's all my life, and some automatic atv's, but never a manual. Therefore I have a few questions about the blaster I'm getting tomorrow.

1. What is jetting, and how does it apply to the Yamaha Blaster?

2. Which tires should I buy? Small tires for looks and acceleration, or bigger tires for torque?

3. Which oil should I mix?

4. How does a Fatty Pipe help?

5. How should I determine when to shift up or down?

Thanks!

1 jetting is the litttle brass hexagon thing in the carb in which gas goes through to mix woth the air. more airflow= a bigger jet needed.

2 it all depends on what u ride

3 most 2cycle oils are fine. and mix it 32:1

4 a fatty pipe is just one pipe made by fmf. there are many other types. any a/m pipe is better then stock, except for maybe DG of course lol. an a/m pipe lets the air flow better and faster. u will need a bigger jet if u make this upgrade as u will for most

5 when the power starts to die off shift up if accelerating or down if ur slowing down or it is bogging

1.jetting is like what novis said they are little hexagon jets that are used to tune the bike so that its got the right fuel/air mixture and yes it applies to the blaster.

2.It depends if you are just riding trails or are riding mx if you ride trails you'll want a taller tire for more ground clearence, and a smaller tire for mx

3.motorcycle 2 stroke oil be sure to buy the best you can buy though.

4.fatty pipes are better as they let the engine get rid of its gases faster and easier, the fmf pipe is an ok pipe but if your doing a lot of engine work to your blaster you'll want a better pipe

5.basicly how you would drive a car shift up when your higher in the rev range and shift down when your lower :D

Thanks for the help. Also, right now I'm looking for a digital speedometer to go on my blaster, preferably one that also determines your gas level.

1. What is jetting, and how does it apply to the Yamaha Blaster?
jetting is used to keep your air/fuel mixture perfect usually you have to jet up if you add performance parts that add more air flow so because theres more air you have to add more gas.

2. Which tires should I buy? Small tires for looks and acceleration, or bigger tires for torque?
well bigger tires are going to take more power to turn so smaller tires will give you more torque alot of people on here like to run a 20 inch tall tire.

3. Which oil should I mix?
any high quality 2stroke oil mixed 32 to 1

4. How does a Fatty Pipe help?
a fatty pipe is a much better designed pipe then stock but there are much better pipes out there then the fatty..a fatty pipe is good for a mostly stock quad.

5. How should I determine when to shift up or down?
if youve ever driven a car without a tach its the same thing just shift when it sounds like you should.

Except he would want this one Trail Tech Endurance Computer YAMAHA BLASTER 1987-02:eBay Motors (item 320426882630 end time Oct-01-09 12:35:12 PDT) because he has a 88-02 Blaster

They don't make any that measure the gas level for Blasters
